Directions

From the West (Rochester):

Take the New York State Thruway heading toward Albany to Exit 41 (Waterloo). At the exit, turn right onto 414 South for a short distance. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Route 318. Take Route 318 until you reach the T in the road, which is Routes 5 & 20. Turn left onto Routes 5 & 20 going east which will then take you approximately 11 miles directly into Downtown Auburn.

From the East (Syracuse):

Take Route 690 West from Syracuse. Stay to the right and pick up Route 695- look for the Auburn signs. At the end of Route 695, stay to the right and merge onto Route 5 heading west toward Elbridge. Go straight through Elbridge on Route 5, which takes you directly into Auburn where Route 5 is also known as Grant Avenue and then becomes the Arterial. This leads into Downtown Auburn.

From the South (Ithaca):

Take Route 34 North straight through to Auburn which will place you directly into the heart of Historic Downtown Auburn. Route 34 is also South and North Streets which intersect Genesee Street and Route 20.

From the North (Watertown):

Take Route 81 South to the New York State Thruway. Follow the Thruway signs toward Buffalo. Get off at exit 40 (Weedsport). At exit turn right onto Route 34 over bridge, straight through Weedsport. Route 34 leads directly into the heart of Historic Downtown Auburn. Route 34 is also South and North Streets and intersect Genesee Street and Route 20.

Parking in Downtown Auburn

There is plenty of parking available in Downtown Auburn for both visitors and employees. This page provides information on the short term and long term parking policies and gives you a guide on where to park. On-Street / Short Term Parking

The vast majority of on-street parking in Downtown Auburn is limited to a 2-hour maximum. If you remain in an on-street for longer than 2 hours, you will be subject to receiving a parking ticket, regardless of whether you put additional money in the meter or not. Therefore, if you think you may be spending longer than 2 hours Downtown, we encourage you to park in the long term parking spaces that are available.

The cost to park on-street in Downtown Auburn is 25 cents for each half-hour (50 cents per hour). To pay, insert coins into the parking meters adjacent to each spot or pay for time at a parking kiosk. Please note that with the exception of the handicap accessible spaces which do have meters, the on-street parking spaces on Genesee Street and State Street in the center of Downtown Auburn do not have meters. Therefore, you must pay at a parking kiosk to park in those spaces.

Long Term Parking

Long term parking is conveniently located in several areas throughout Downtown. If you will be in Downtown for more than two hours, please park in one of the following locations:

Parking Kiosk Instructions Parking Kiosks are installed on Genesee Street between the William Street (Tourist Information Center corner) and Loop Road (Wegman’s corner) intersections, and on State Street in Downtown Auburn. There are also kiosks in the City parking lots at Dill and Lincoln Streets. The kiosks are green with solar power panels on the top. The kiosks only accept nickels, dimes, and quarters. There is a 25 cent minimum, which can consist of one quarter OR a combination of dimes and nickels. One half hour is 25 cents, one hour is 50 cents. To pay, approach the kiosk and do the following: Insert enough coins for the desired amount of time (25 cents minimum). Press the large green button to print receipt. The receipt will cycle through and drop into the lower slot that has the plastic shield, which will lift up to enable you to take the receipt out. Take the receipt, which will indicate on it the time at which your parking will expire. Return to your car and place the receipt inside on your dashboard so that it is clearly visible from the outside. The parking attendant will look for the ticket to make sure you have paid.

Please note that you can pay at any kiosk to park anywhere. The kiosks in the Dill Street and Lincoln Street parking lots are designed to make it easy to drive up to them. It is permissible to drive to these kiosks, pay for receipts, and use those receipts to park in an on-street space. Many people take advantage of this convenience in order to avoid walking back forth from the car to the kiosk.

Also, please note that if you have time left on your receipt when you leave a parking space, the receipt is still good until the time indicated. If you move to another location Downtown, you can use the previously purchased receipt and do NOT need to pay again.

If you park in an on-street spot that has a parking meter, it is permissible to use a valid kiosk receipt to pay for the space instead of using the parking meter.
